June has officially arrived, and you know what that means: warmer weather, beautiful sunshine, and plenty of fresh inspiration for our making adventures. I am absolutely thrilled to share what has been keeping my hands busy this month. Grab a cup of tea, get comfortable, and let us dive into all the lovely projects, updates, and brand-new resources I have lined up for you.
The Ultimate Teddy Bear Picnic
If you go down to the woods today, you are sure of a big surprise! This month, I have been completely swept up in the whimsy of creating a classic teddy bear picnic. There is something incredibly nostalgic and heartwarming about crafting handmade bears.
I have been working on a beautiful family of traditional jointed teddy bears, focusing on classic textures, soft mohair fabrics, and those perfect little hand-stitched details that give each bear its own unique personality. Whether you are an experienced bear maker or wanting to dip your toes into toy making for the very first time, this theme is an absolute joy to bring to life.
Updates from the Desert: My Soft Sculpture Camel
For those of you who followed my update last month, you will know that I have been pouring a lot of love into a large soft sculpture camel. This project has been a wonderful challenge, pushing the boundaries of structure, character design, and fabric manipulation.
This June, our humped friend is truly starting to come together! I have been finalizing the facial expressions, securing the internal support structures, and layering on the gorgeous, textured faux furs to replicate that authentic camel coat. It is incredible to watch a flat piece of fabric slowly transform into a character with genuine presence. I cannot wait for you to see the finished sculpture standing tall.
Fresh Inspiration: New Creative Resources
Aside from the physical sewing and sculpting, I have spent a lot of time behind the scenes developing fresh materials to support your own making journeys. I want to make crafting as accessible and joyful as possible, so I have curated a selection of brand-new creative resources.
I am introducing a suite of digital downloads, including beautifully illustrated templates, step-by-step PDF guides, and downloadable patterns designed to take the guesswork out of your next project. These resources are crafted to help you skip the frustration of pattern layout and dive straight into the fun, creative part of making.
What Is Next in the Studio?
Between the rustling woods of our teddy picnic and the sunny dunes of our soft sculpture camel, June is shaping up to be an unforgettable month of making.
I would love to know what you are currently working on at your own crafting tables. Are you stitching something for the summer, or perhaps trying a brand-new medium? Let me know in the comments below!
