Welcome to Fran’s Christmas Workshop

Hey Crafters! Step Inside Fran’s Christmas Workshop! 🎅✨

It’s that wonderful time of year when the scrap bins come out and every mason jar lid, button, and remnant of fabric has the potential to become holiday magic! Welcome to my festive hub, where we celebrate the thrill of resourceful, handmade Christmas crafting. Below, I’m showcasing some of my favourite seasonal projects and amazing festive feats, from whimsical Christmas ornaments and cozy table decor to creative crafting ideas and the resources that inspired them. Remember: holiday crafting is a process, not an assembly line. Put your own signature on your projects, laugh at the little mistakes along the way, and most importantly, have fun!

Ten Top Christmas crafting tips!

  1. Reflect and Pivot: Review this year’s best and most frustrating makes to shape your upcoming creative goals.
  2. Keep an Ornament “Hospital Box”: Set aside damaged baubles as you decorate so you can repair them before they go back into storage.
  3. Label Storage Early: Prep and categorise your packing boxes now to make unpacking effortless next November.
  4. Upcycle Holiday Cards: Punch and bind your favourite incoming cards into a keepsake flipbook or slip them straight into a scrapbook.
  5. Photograph Finished Makes: Snap quality photos of handmade items before gifting them to build out your crafting portfolio.
  6. Save Wrapping Scraps: Keep sturdy cardboard tubes and wrapping paper offcuts for future gift tags and mixed-media projects.
  7. Finish One Lingering Project: Complete a nearly finished craft before Christmas Day to clear physical and mental space for the new year.
  8. Shop Post-Holiday Sales: Stock up on heavily discounted festive fabrics, yarn, and supplies in late December.
  9. Draft a Technique Wish List: Jot down new skills and crafts you want to try so you are ready to dive in come January.
  10. Experiment on Small DIYs: Test out a new stitch or technique on simple holiday projects like gift tags or stockings to build your confidence.
