Mommy Mouse’s Grand Finale: Finishing touches to my New Doorstop

Mommy Mouse and Her Babies: A Creative Journey

Hi, I’m Fran, and I’m excited to share my latest creative project: transforming my initial creation, now affectionately known as “Mommy Mouse,” and her adorable baby mice!

Techniques and Materials Used

  • Mommy Mouse Ears: To give my original creation a mouse-like appearance, I added ears made from felt backingand t-shirt fabric. For a little extra flair, I included small hearts inside each ear.
  • Baby Mice Construction:
    • I crafted these little ones from canvas, using two half-circles sewn together along the top seam.
    • To create a rounded bottom, I gathered the fabric like a yo-yo.
    • I added tiny tails and ears to complete their look.
    • For a polished finish, I used a round piece of felt on the underside.
    • Some of the larger babies even got bead eyes!
  • Fabric Choices: For the mice, I used a combination of canvas, felt, and t-shirt fabric.

Unique Flair and Customization

  • My original project wasn’t initially intended to be a mouse, but adding the ears gave her a whole new personality! That’s how “Mommy Mouse” was born.
  • To keep her company, I made a whole family of “baby” mice in brown canvas, some with those adorable bead eyes.
  • I’m planning to add whiskers to all the mice to make them even cuter!
  • I’m also considering making a purse from a tin lid for Mommy Mouse. Stay tuned for a future tutorial on that!
  • I’m buzzing with ideas for different themed versions of this project, like Christmas or farmyard themes, using all sorts of fun materials.

I’m a self-taught crafter with a passion for turning imagination into reality. After retiring from a rewarding career as a nurse, I traded my scrubs for scissors and have been happily sewing up a storm ever since.

I love sharing my journey into the wonderful world of crafting on my blog. Here, you’ll find everything from the project ideas that spark my creativity to the techniques and resources that bring them to life. Whether I’m creating whimsical art dolls, cozy home decor, or magical Christmas ornaments, my goal is to inspire you to find joy in making things with your own hands.
