Prepare your Crafting Projects for Show: Make your crafts shine at the country fair!

Hello fellow crafters! Fran here.

I’m so excited to share with you my process for preparing for a craft show. I’ve been getting ready for a fall fair, and it’s all about making a great impression and, of course, promoting my website, Fran’s Friends. I hope these tips will help you get ready for your next show!

Creating a Professional Look

First impressions are so important! To make sure my work looks its best, I focus on a few key elements:

  • Business Cards: I created business cards to go with each project. I’ve got a fun, AI-generated picture of myself on them, along with a QR code and my brand name, “Fran the Resourceful Crafter.” The back is simple but effective, with a heart and my website, fransfriends.com.
  • Photo Displays: To really showcase my projects, I printed high-quality photos on photo paper. I plan to frame or laminate them to make them durable for the show. For example, I have a photo of my “birds of a feather” rooster that I’ll display right next to the actual piece.
  • Project Templates: For each item, I’ve put together a detailed template. This includes the project name, the materials and techniques I used, and even the symbolism behind it. I also added a cost analysis and a section for any mistakes or regrets, which I think is a great way to be transparent and connect with other crafters.
  • Canvas Labels: I’m also making my own custom labels! I plan to print my logo onto canvas inkjet paper, then cut out the logos with pinking shears and attach them to each project. I’ll make sure to add my name to the back, so everyone knows who created the piece.

My Featured Projects

For this show, I’m entering a few of my favorite projects. I have some of my intricate art dolls from my YouTube shorts, including the “birds of a feather flocked together” rooster and chicken. I’m also really proud of my “12 Months of Christmas” advent calendar, and I’ll be entering that as well.

My goal for this show isn’t just to win a ribbon. I really want to spark interest in my website and share my techniques with other crafters. I hope to inspire people to get creative and try something new!

I’m a self-taught crafter with a passion for turning imagination into reality. After retiring from a rewarding career as a nurse, I traded my scrubs for scissors and have been happily sewing up a storm ever since.

I love sharing my journey into the wonderful world of crafting on my blog. Here, you’ll find everything from the project ideas that spark my creativity to the techniques and resources that bring them to life. Whether I’m creating whimsical art dolls, cozy home decor, or magical Christmas ornaments, my goal is to inspire you to find joy in making things with your own hands.
